Dear
Mr. President
Re: Same-Sex
Marriage
Your
position regarding same-sex marriage has "evolved" to the point where
you are now an advocate.
Same-sex
marriage should be neither a constitutional nor an equal rights issue. A man
has the right to marry a woman and a woman has the right to marry a man. There
is no discrimination. Same-sex marriage is, in fact, an oxymoron.
As a
Christian, you would know that the institution of marriage was intended to be
the same today as when it was ordained by God 6,000 years ago. When one is an
advocate for that which is against God's will, contrary to the perception of
many, it does not represent true compassion for the gay person.
Regardless
of our sexual temptations, whether heterosexual or homosexual, as Christians we
are called to submit to the way of Christ. As believers, we should honour His
Word:
"For
this reason a man shall leave his father and his mother, and be joined to his
wife; and they shall become one flesh" (Genesis 2:24).
It
is understandable that there will be consequences for violating His expressed
instructions for our lives as, ultimately, God will not be mocked.
As
the President of the United States and as a professing Christian, this is a
tremendous opportunity for you to stand boldly for God's unblemished truth. I
kindly ask you to reconsider your position to be consistent with God's Word. I
know that you will be graciously honoured for providing such leadership.
Thank
you for your consideration.
Yours
truly
Randall
F. More, P. Eng.
