Dear Mr. Silver/Mr. Goodell

RE: “Black Lives Matter” Movement

It may be a long while before I resume watching basketball. I was rather shocked recently to see the courts inscribed with “Black Lives Matter” (BLM) with the same inscription on each player’s jersey.

An international sporting event should not be used to promote a political agenda, most specifically an agenda which is clearly subversive with respect to society’s normal values.

How is it that the NBA is either unaware or chooses to disregard fundamental basics and doctrines of the BLM movement:

·       founded by trained Marxists

·       promotes defunding police

·       advocates no arrests of black students

·       promotes a guaranteed minimum income for blacks

·     promotes free healthcare, education, food, real estate, and gender reassignment surgery for blacks

·       committed to destroying the traditional family

·       anti-American, anti-western, unpatriotic

·       promotes protestations of looting, burning, terrorism, killing, destroying property

·       demands reparations for past mistreatments

·       promotes legalization of prostitution

·       promotes legalization of the sale of all drugs

·       promotes legalization of abortion

·       provision for free abortions for minors

·       demands the outsourcing of parental responsibilities to the government

·       demands reduction of military spending by 50%

·       committed to registering 16-year old voters

·       allow prisoners, illegal immigrants, and felons to vote

·       increase death tax, capital gains tax, and real estate tax

·       commence global liberation movement to overthrow capitalism

·       provide reparations to nations in wars with U.S.

The BLM movement gained popularity following the tragic and ruthless killing of George Floyd... and others. When bad people (who we will always have) are confronted by bad police officers (who we will always have), very bad things can and do happen. When such confrontations result in bad and tragic outcomes, the justice system should first be allowed to prevail instead of lootings, arson, vandalism, theft, and killings… mostly instigated by the BLM movement.

The fundamental truth is that ALL lives matter but this is regularly denounced by Leftists... and apparently by the NBA. The truth is rarely acknowledged but, if so, it is usually with negative consequences that Asian lives matter, Indigenous lives matter, Jewish lives matter, Hispanic lives matter, and ALL lives matter. Why is that? Not always, but it is because people of these groups are seldom in trouble with the police and therefore need no such advocacy. (When it is stated by anyone that Blue Lives Matter, sadly, such a notion is readily mocked instead of honoured.)

If black lives truly mattered to the BLM movement, it would genuinely reflect care about the killing of former black officer David Dorn, the endless killing of blacks by blacks in Chicago and in every major city, and the killing of unborn black children. Sadly, the BLM movement has an objective of ensuring that blacks are kept in perpetual victimhood… that serves no one well.

The NBA’s recent support of Communist China, instead of supporting the pro-democracy protestations in Hong Kong, is equally appalling. Integrity, not political or financial expediency, should be the governing value and principle in every decision in every organization, including within the NBA.

The situation may even be worse in the NFL whereby protestations are more aggressive compared to the NBA with players taking a knee and hiding in the clubhouse during the singing of the national anthem. NFL players are employees. Any protest should be conducted on the player’s own time as is the case with any employee in any other organization.

Contrary to the recent NFL edict, racism and police brutality of blacks is neither rampant nor systemic.

A major sports organization should not need to wait for customer dissatisfaction before modifying its approach; it should know what is good, right, and honourable from the outset.

I welcome your acknowledgement and response. Thank you.

Yours truly

Randall F. More, P. Eng.

P.S. Due to recent public outrage, the mandate deriding the western nuclear family was recently removed from the BLM website.
